More Than Just a Spa

Sundara at Oil Nut Bay is more than a spa — it’s a sensory retreat rooted in the natural rhythms of sea and sky. Every aspect of the design supports wellbeing, from abundant light to glass floor panel treatment rooms revealing a marine sanctuary below, to the seamless line where water meets horizon. The architecture draws the sea inward, inviting guests to slow down, breathe deeper, feel flow, and connect deeply with nature.

World Class Architecture

A modern overwater bungalow with a thatched roof sits above clear turquoise water at Oil Nut Bay in the British Virgin Islands, surrounded by lush greenery and blue sky.

Designed by US-based Jenn Zella and her creative world-class CID Design Group and Architect Carlos Agelet De Saracibar of OBMI, The Sundara spa and sanctuary embodies thoughtful, purposeful design and natural elegance.

“Our shared vision for Sundara stems from a harmonious, like-minded kinship and practice. Founder David Johnson and his team was highly supportive of the many creative design and programmatic wishes to make this space as impactful as possible.” – Zella

Design

A modern, coastal living space with wicker chairs, stone walls, and an open view of the ocean through large glass doors. Inspired by Oil Nut Bay spa, minimalist decor and a stylish ceiling accent create a serene, airy atmosphere.

A neutral, biophilic palette of materials inspired by the local landscape signals peace, tranquility, and connectivity to nature such as locally sourced coral stone, warm sun-bleached woods, and the element of indigenous copper.

Natural materials ground the space in place and purpose. Their textures are intentionally subtle — meant to echo, not distract from, the landscape just beyond the glass. Light stone and wood, natural and woven materials — all blend with the landscape to blur the line between indoors and out.

The heart and midpoint of the Sundara wellness studio is furnished with lounge seating. Abundant glass affords nearly 360-degree views and close connectivity to the bay, reef, and surrounding landscape. With 4 walls of operable glass the space can be open-air or conditioned for all-weather multi-purpose use.
