Former New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch is selling his swanky beachfront pad in the British Virgin Islands for a cool $15.9 million. This price tag would make it one of the priciest properties ever sold on the island where it stands, Virgin Gorda, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The sprawling 6,000-square-foot estate, located in the luxe Oil Nut Bay resort community, boasts six bedrooms, two kitchens and six outdoor showers.
What’s more, the sale includes all the plush furnishings and a pair of golf carts for getting around Oil Nut Bay’s hilly terrain. The listing is repped by Roz Colthart from Corcoran BVI.
Lynch and his wife, Dr. Susan Lynch, a retired pediatrician, have been regulars on Virgin Gorda since the ’90s. “We’ve been to islands all over the world and like the BVIs the best,” Lynch told the outlet.
After his gubernatorial stint from 2005 to 2013, the Lynches rented the house starting in 2016 — a time when a number of homes in Oil Nut Bay had just been completed or were under construction. When their rental hit the market in 2018, they snapped it up for about $8 million. Now, they’re looking to sell to spend more time globetrotting.
Each of the home’s six bedroom suites features an outdoor shower and a private entrance. The property also includes a gym and a great room with a vaulted ceiling, Colthart told the Journal. Outside — seating, dining and grilling areas overlook an infinity pool and the beach. On the other side, there’s a pond often visited by flamingos.
The Lynches used to visit their tropical getaway twice a year, enjoying snorkeling, sailing, paddleboarding and pickleball with family. They also bonded with resort staff, inviting them over for drinks and touch football on the beach.
“We don’t use it as much as we could, and we want to travel,” said Lynch, who previously led furniture giant Knoll. The couple recently ticked off a bucket-list trip to Africa.
In addition to their mansion, the Lynches are also selling a nearby lot for $3.6 million, where they had initially planned to build.
Another Virgin Gorda home is in contract for $16 million, set to shatter the island’s previous $12.6 million record, Anthony Campbell of Smiths Gore Christie’s International Real Estate told The Journal.
Luxury homes on Virgin Gorda averaged about $3 million in 2022 and 2023, up from $1.7 million in 2021.
The priciest home in the British Virgin Islands went for $53.4 million in 2014. Oil Nut Bay is located a very short boat trip from Sir Richard Branson’s famed Necker Island.
