Virgin Gorda Excursion: The Baths
Easily the most popular Virgin Gorda excursion for Oil Nut Bay guests is the Baths, a national park and beautiful beach area with massive granite boulder formations (that can get up to 40ft in diameter!), tidal pools, and beautiful grottos. If you’re interested in a little workout, it’s a great location for snorkeling and swimming, as well as a bit of hiking over and through the formations.
The Baths are located at the southwestern part of Virgin Gorda. To access them from Oil Nut Bay, our wonderful Guest Services Manager, Kat, can set up a rental car or a taxi for you. Renting a boat is another option, as it’s possible to moor out front and swim in or cruise in with a dinghy to the designated dock. Entrance to the Baths costs a reasonable $3 for adults and $2 for children. Before the entrance, there are a few boutiques and restaurants, where you can shop or grab a quick bite to eat.
While at the Baths, you can discover your own route, jump off a few rocks, or follow a designated trail with stairs and ropes that bring you to Devil’s Bay next door. In the opposite direction, there is Spring Bay, a quieter and free alternative to the Baths, with the same large boulders, excellent snorkeling and clear waters.
We feel whatever excursion you choose with us at Oil Nut Bay, you’re bound to be blown away by the stunning natural beauty and rich history of Virgin Gorda.
- During tourist season, the Baths can be quite busy with cruise ship passengers, so Spring Bay can be the more private option with less crowds and equally phenomenal views.
- Bring a cooler and have a picnic or a drink while you lounge waterside! There’s also a bar down on the beach as well.
