Getting To Oil Nut Bay

May 7th, 2015

Getting to Oil Nut Bay is a unique experience and can be an enjoyable part of your vacation in itself. As the easternmost destination of the luxurious Virgin Gorda island, secluded Oil Nut Bay can only be accessed by helicopter or by boat. Traveling by air or sea through the local islands is a fantastic way to appreciate the beauty of the region.

Currently, there are no direct flights to the British Virgin Islands from North America, South America or Europe. However, that doesn’t mean getting to Oil Nut Bay is difficult. Guests will usually arrive in the BVI by flying into the island of St. Thomas, home to the Cyril E. King International Airport, via commercial plane or private jet. From St. Thomas, visitors often take a helicopter to get to Oil Nut Bay, which is a very short and beautiful ride. There is also a ferry that travels directly from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda.

Others may choose to travel through San Juan, Puerto Rico. Once in the Caribbean, local flights are then available to the smaller Tortola, Beef Island Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport and Virgin Gorda Regional Airport.
