A Can’t Miss When You Explore the BVI

If you find yourself eager to explore the BVI neighborhood while staying with us at Oil Nut Bay, we encourage you to head over to Jost Van Dyke.

More commonly referred to by locals as” Jost,” this island is perfect for a boating excursion and bar hopping. Only three square miles, Jost Van Dyke is the smallest of the four main islands in the BVI but possibly the liveliest. Located slightly northwest of Tortola and north of St. John, it is accessible by boat or ferry service from Tortola’s West End. Our staff will happily make arrangements for you to explore the BVI and Jost Van Dyke.

Dive BVI Island Hopper leaves from our neighboring resort, Biras Creek, on Thursdays. Spend the day on a boat, snorkeling, and end your day trip at the Soggy Dollar Bar in White Bay, known as the birthplace of the famous BVI drink, the Painkiller. It’s a fun, unique place to stop where boaters can moor out front and swim right up to the beach to grab a drink.

White Bay is known for its stunning white sand beach and famous BVI turquoise waters. If you’re a country music fan, you’ll be pleased to know that Kenny Chesney’s music video for” No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem” was partially filmed at a White Bay location, Ivan’s Stress Free Bar and campground living up to its name as you make your drinks and keep track of your tab.

Foxy’s, located at Great Harbor on the eastern side of the island, is another well known Yost bar and restaurant. If you tell Foxy where you hail from, he will greet you in a song about your hometown, riddled with a surprising amount of facts. While Soggy Dollar is more of a day bar, Foxy’s is known for its nightlife and huge New Year’s beach party.

Jost is an excellent location for boating. Stop by for a refreshing painkiller or just a relaxing day on the sand. We at Oil Nut Bay encourage you to explore the BVI neighborhood and experience Jost Van Dyke for yourself!
