Oil Nut Bay State-of-the-Art

Oil Nut Bay will have state of the art utilities.

Dr. Larry Oswald & Ryan Oswald

Electricity:  BVI Electric Company will provide power to the Resort Area  beginning in March 2010.  Until then, we will utilize on-site diesel generators.

Fresh Water:  Two “reverse Osmosis” units in the Resort Area are planned.  The first system that is currently running  has the capacity to produce 4,000 gallons per day (GPD).  The second system will go online in February 2010 and has the capacity to produce 13,000 GPD.  They operate by electricity and will supply water for the Resort Area for all fresh water needs, including establishing landscaping.  They will supply other lots as required.

Waste Water Treatment:  Oil Nut Bay will utilize lift stations in the Resort Area to take waste water to a septic system located under the future site of the amphitheater.

Irrigation Water: Collected from roofs and stored in underground cisterns at each building.

Communications:  Temporary mobile site provides cellular phone and cable internet to the Resort Area.

Solid Waste Collection:  Picked-up, sorted and either composted, sent for recycling or send (as little as possible) to Virgin Gorda landfill.

Electricity:  Mainly BVI EC power with diesel generator backup.  As homes are built, they will supply excess electricity generated by the required 3 kilowatt to 5 kilowatt solar arrays on the homes to the ONB power grid.  In 2012, the first wind turbine will likely be installed to generate electricity.

Fresh Water:  One 40,000 GPD Reverse Osmosis with energy regeneration water-maker will be installed in the central Back of House late in 2011. This unit is expandable to 60,000 GPD as demand increases.  All lots will be supplied with ONB Fresh Water.

Waste Water Treatment:  As demand increase, a 30,000 GPD accelerated anaerobic waste water digester (WWT) plant will be installed in the central Back of House.  The waste water will be pumped there from central pumping stations, one in the Resort Area and several in the ONB Marina Area.  Remote lots will be required to have their own miniature WWT plant.  The treated water from this WWT plant will be returned to the Resort Area (call “reuse water” and stored in the main irrigation cistern to be located under the tennis courts at the Fitness Center.

Irrigation Water:  As stated above, will be collected from the roofs of each building.  Plus, Resort Area landscaping will be irrigated from main reuse water cistern where the reuse water comes from the central WWT plan.

Communications:  A central “Communications Center” (site TBD) will distribute broadband digital voice, data and video over a fiber optic backbone to all homes, community buildings and other facilities (ONB Marina, e.g.) requiring them.

Solid Waste Collection:  Picked-up, sorted and either composted, sent for recycling, or fed into the Methane generation/capture portion of the WWT plant with almost nothing going to the Virgin Gorda Landfill, keeping conservation in mind.
